After a long period of uncertainty, Anthony Kumpen is happy to be starting the 2009 season. Kumpen is returning to his Corvette Motorsport roots with friend and teammate, Mike Hezemans and couldn’t be more excited.
"Everyone is ready to pounce" Anthony Kumpen explains. "A few weeks ago we had a good test at Paul Ricard as well a complete review of the engine in America, which we sent to be reviewed. The gearbox is revised, the suspension is in order, and the Corvette C6-R is in excellent condition. We are keen to begin and proceed resolutely to the title fight. "

The season begins this year at Silverstone, a circuit that Mike Hezemans would like to take victory at. "In 2006 and 2007 I realized that the pole, was not exactly possible, partly through luck and a slightly slower teammate. This year I go with Anthony. We know each other and are both fast ... it's just good. Silverstone is a challenging circuit like Le Mans ... really a circuit where you can go full, but one that you can make mistakes as well. I much prefer a slower circuit such as Adria. "

In recent weeks, Mike and Anthony worked hard on their fitness. "Daily walking and cycling and regularly to the gym, I am the last two weeks trying. I conditionally top, Mike is equally sharp. Throw bread to us and you get crumbs back "says Anthony Kumpen.

Both Mike and Anthony have one main goal for 2009: Championship glory. "The biggest competitor for me is the Vitaphone team" says Mike Hezemans. Regularity is more important than pure speed if you want to take the title. Over the years I picked up many points in the second half year and I did only a few points during the first matches.
