15/01/2010 Latest News from the FIA GT1 World Championship
Here is the latest news update from the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship.
Date change for Abu Dhabi
The FIA has received a request to delay the first race of the 2010 season by two weeks. This is in order to avoid a clash with the UAE Desert Challenge, the first round of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies. The new date for the Yas Marina round in Abu Dhabi will therefore be April 16th – 17th. Please note that the event will take place over two days, with both the Qualifying and Championship races on the Saturday, the second day of the UAE weekend.
Closing Date for Entries
Entries for the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship close today, Friday January 15th, at midnight. The number of cars (or teams) is restricted to 24 (12). The dossier of the applicants will then be subject to administrative checks before the entry list is released by the FIA at the end of the month, when more information will be given. SRO will be sending out a press release on Sunday 17th January with details of the applications that have been received by the FIA for the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship
Logos and Partnerships
In order to reflect the importance of this new World Championship, SRO is proud to announce that a major design company has been charged with creating new logos and brand identity, to be declined over all the FIA GT Championships. Along with very important partnerships in the areas of PR, marketing and TV distribution, a formal announcement will be made in the near future. Stunning new websites for GT1, GT2 and GT3 are also being prepared, to be launched in February.
