Christophe Bouchut : "It is always a special feeling to set pole position"
Christophe Bouchut nr 17 Russian Age Aston Martin DBR9 Pole position
It is always a special feeling to set pole position, it is the second pole position for the team this season. I discovered the car yesterday. It is not at all easy to immediately be on the pace. The team did a great job, the tyres were good and the car is quick even if we could make it better. But we need to get more experience with it. Unfortunately, my team-mate Nikolai Fomenko had an accident during the second qualifying practice session. The car is not too badly damaged. The bumper has been sent to a workshop to be repaired.
Pedro Lamy Larbre Compétition Ferrari 550 Maranello 2nd position
The car was OK, we improved the set-up since yesterday and we are confident for the race. We will try to do a good result. We practiced a lot in race conditions, so we will see. I wanted to give Gabriele Gardel a nice birthday present with pole position but it was not possible. Front row is nice though, and we will see what we can achieve in the race.
Andrea Piccini G.P.C. Sport Ferrari 575 Maranello GTC 2nd position
We worked hard since the beginning of the season. The car is much better. Ferrari, Pirelli and the team did a great job. Istanbul was better for the Pirelli tyres. Here, I think the Michelin tyres had an advantage but the race still open. This afternoon, we changed the car set-up a little bit. Then, Jean-Denis [Deletraz] drove for a long time to get information for the race.
Karl Wendlinger JMB Racing Maserati MC12 GT1 8th position
We worked all the day for the race, we only did long runs. The car is consistent; the Pirelli tyres are working well, so it is not so bad. On the other hand, the brakes are difficult. With the weight, it is impossible to brake late, so it is hard to overtake the GT2 cars. We only have to be patient and consistent during the race in order to score points.
Marc Lieb GruppeM Porsche 996 GT3 RSR Pole position in GT2
It is great to start from pole position. We had a good qualifying session this morning. The car is great and we are 1-2 again, so it is good for the team. It is a very important race tomorrow, especially for our team owner Kenny Chen. It is a good advantage to start from the pole position. We want to win this race in order to win the GT2 Drivers Championship, in addition to the Teams one.
Emmanuel Collard - GruppeM Porsche 996 GT3 RSR 2nd in GT2
It was difficult today, the car was understeering a lot. Tim Sugden was supposed to set the time but he was stuck in traffic. The good point is that I did our best time with old tyres, after 15 laps, so it is good for the race. At the end of the session, I braked too late so I went off the track. And with the kind of gravel used on this circuit, you are stuck there. Anyway, the car is not damaged and we are confident for tomorrow.
Luigi Moccia Ebimotors Porsche 996 GT3 RSR 3rd in GT2
We are closer to the GruppeM cars, so we are quite confident. The team and the car are getting better at every round ! The Pirelli tyres worked well. Lets see how the race goes in hot conditions. But I hope that we will be on the podium again tomorrow.
Bas Leinders Belgian Racing Vertigo Streiff pole position in G2
Something is broken on the chassis. It is not a problem for the cars behaviour but it is nearly impossible to change the front tyres ! It will be a problem during the race.
